Full Description
The Penn State Electro-Optics Center (EOC) is a hybrid between the best components of a university and those of private industry. This model provides access to the university’s researchers and scientists, its state-of-the-art facilities and leading edge research, while insuring a path to industry for the transition of critical components and systems to manufacturing and acquisition.
The transition of technology from its original identification and development to manufacturing for field and fleet acquisition, is one of the biggest ongoing challenges facing our nation. The EOC staff are experts in moving technology from idea to product for the Department of Defense. From groundbreaking research, to providing innovative upgrades to extend the lives of legacy systems, our staff has successfully met our sponsors’ most challenging technology transition and sustainment requirements.
By addressing issues from a systems solution perspective, the EOC is able to effectively shorten the development life cycle and expediently field relevant solutions at lower cost and greater availability.
